Gyroscopic Stabilizer, Trim Tab and Interceptor Service

From the Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer to the Zipwake automatic trim system, hydraulic trim tabs and interceptors, we install, maintain and repair boat stability systems.

  • Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer
  • Seakeeper Ride
  • Zipwake automatic trim
  • Hydraulic trim tabs
  • Interceptor systems
  • Vacuum & lubrication maintenance

Boat stability directly affects passenger comfort and seasickness, making it a genuine safety matter. From our workshop in Turgutreis, Aslan Yacht provides installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis for Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizers, the Seakeeper Ride attitude control system, the Zipwake automatic trim system, and hydraulic trim tabs / interceptors for motor yachts across the Bodrum peninsula.

What we do

  • Seakeeper installation and maintenance: structural and electrical assessment before installation, commissioning, periodic oil and vacuum maintenance, fault code diagnosis. We cover the operating principle in our Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizer article.
  • Seakeeper Ride installation: wiring, installation and commissioning of Seakeeper Ride, which manages roll, pitch and trim automatically underway.
  • Zipwake installation: interceptor panels and control unit installation and calibration. We discuss the benefits in our Zipwake automatic trim system article.
  • Hydraulic trim tab systems: installation and maintenance of the cylinder, pump unit, valve block and control panel.
  • Interceptor systems: installation, adjustment and fault diagnosis.
  • Fault diagnosis: hydraulic leaks, electrical supply issues, sensor calibration drift and mechanical wear.
  • Comparative advisory: guidance on choosing between hydraulic trim tabs and interceptors based on boat type, speed range and intended use. You'll find a detailed comparison in our hydraulic trim flap or interceptor? article.

Faults we commonly fix

  • A Seakeeper throwing a fault code or failing to reach its expected torque level.
  • Falling vacuum level, causing the system to run louder or fail to engage.
  • A Zipwake or interceptor panel responding differently from its opposite side.
  • Oil leaks on a hydraulic trim tab, or a cylinder moving too slowly.
  • Wrong trim angle calculations due to calibration drift.
  • Communication faults on the control panel or a screen showing no data.

Our on-board work process

  1. System check: We read fault codes, check hydraulic level and leaks, and measure electrical supply.
  2. Mechanical and electrical inspection: Bearings, coupling, hydraulic hoses and connectors are visually and physically checked.
  3. Calibration: The control unit is reset and calibrated per manufacturer procedure.
  4. Maintenance or repair: Oil changes, vacuum pumping, seal replacement or part repair are performed.
  5. Sea trial: The system is tested under different speed and load conditions, with fine-tuning applied where needed.

Brands we work with

We work on Seakeeper gyroscopic stabilizers and Zipwake automatic trim systems, following both manufacturers' official installation and maintenance guides. We coordinate the electrical supply and battery capacity planning for these systems with our Energy & Battery Systems service, since a Seakeeper's inrush current at spin-up affects battery bank sizing. See our Yacht Electrical page for general onboard electrical infrastructure.

Motor yacht vs. sailing yacht

On motor yachts, stabilizer and trim systems are critical for comfort and efficiency: a Seakeeper reduces roll at anchor, while a trim tab or interceptor lifts the bow underway to improve fuel efficiency and visibility. On high-speed motor yachts, an interceptor's fast response time can be a deciding factor.

On sailing yachts, these systems are rarely used; stability mostly comes from the ballast keel, sail trim and load distribution. Some motorsailers and large catamarans do have Seakeeper installations for comfort. See our Sailing Yacht Electrical page for sailing yacht electrical infrastructure.

Service area

Our workshop is in Turgutreis. We work on boats at Turgutreis D-Marin, Yalıkavak Palmarina, Milta Bodrum Marina, Gümüşlük bay and the boatyards across the peninsula. For new system installations and maintenance that requires hull work, the boat needs to be hauled out; this makes the winter layup period the best time for installation and comprehensive maintenance. Most periodic maintenance and adjustment work, however, can be done in the water at the marina. A pre-season stabilizer check prevents unexpected faults on the first sea trial; our season opening checklist helps with this planning. Reach us through our contact page for installation or to report a fault.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Seakeeper still work while at anchor?

Yes, the most noticeable benefit of a Seakeeper is reducing roll while anchored or fishing. The system is effective both underway and at anchor; it only needs adequate power and cooling supply.

What's the difference between Zipwake and a classic hydraulic trim tab?

Zipwake is interceptor-based, reacts faster, and automatically balances roll and trim angle. A classic hydraulic trim tab has a larger surface area and may be preferred on heavier motor yachts; the choice depends on boat type and speed.

Can I do Seakeeper maintenance myself?

Daily checks (visual inspection, fault code monitoring) can be done by the user, but periodic maintenance such as vacuum level measurement, oil changes and bearing checks must be carried out by technicians authorized by the manufacturer.

Does a trim tab or interceptor fault put the boat at risk?

One side not working can heel the boat toward one direction and affect maneuverability. We recommend having any anomaly checked as soon as it's noticed; a hydraulic leak carries particular fire and slip risk in the engine room.

Does installation require the boat to be hauled out?

Seakeeper installation and interceptor/trim tab installation involve cutting and drilling the hull, so the boat needs to be hauled out. Periodic maintenance and adjustments can mostly be done in the water.

Which marinas do you serve?

We work at Turgutreis D-Marin, Yalıkavak Palmarina, Milta Bodrum Marina, Gümüşlük and the boatyards around the peninsula.

Problem on board?

Send us the boat name and marina and we'll get back to you the same day. On-site service in Turgutreis, Yalıkavak, Gümüşlük and the Bodrum marinas.
